The LGBTQ Center
In January 2020, after outgrowing our original location in midtown, we moved to our current location at 121 N. Greene Street in the heart Downtown Greensboro.
Our dedicated volunteers and staff provide valuable resources and programs on a broad range of topics, such as healthcare, legal rights, self-advocacy, aging, financial planning, and transgender issues.
The LGBTQ Center is 2,000 square feet and consists of a lounge (stocked with free water and coffee!), a large meeting space that seats up to 50 people, two smaller meeting spaces, a resource library, and so much more. The Center offers a transgender clothing closet, where trans folks can find a piece of gender-affirming clothing at no cost. It also houses a queer library where people can check out LGBTQ-themed books and movies.
To reserve space and/or time in the Center for your program or meeting, please contact us at 336.790.8419 or email center@ggfnc.org.

Grant Program
Every year, Guilford Green Foundation provides grants to local nonprofits that support our mission through LGBTQ initiatives and programs. Our focus are the youth, aging, and the transgender communities.
We support a broad range of work, including projects that build leadership capacity, help secure rights for the community, affirm and celebrate identity, ensure safety, wellbeing, and dignified treatment, as well as work to eliminate discrimination and bias.
To be eligible for consideration, all prospective projects must have an LGBTQ component or serve our community in some capacity. Grant applicants must also be a federal 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating in Alamance, Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, or Rockingham counties.
The Pearl Berlin Scholarship
Guilford Green Foundation created a scholarship fund in honor of the late Pearl Berlin, a hero in the fight for marriage equality. Pearl Berlin and her partner of 52 years, Ellen “Lennie” Gerber, of High Point, were plaintiffs in the lawsuit that upended North Carolina’s Amendment One, which defined marriage as between a man and a women. They were the first winners of the Guilford Green Visionary Award.
The Pearl Berlin Scholarship honors Berlin and her lifetime of work as a fearless advocate for LGBTQ rights, marriage equality, and education. The scholarship is dedicated to celebrating and supporting continuing education for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and allied students who exhibit courage and leadership in their schools and communities. The scholarship(s) are awarded in the spring to graduating, college-bound seniors who have demonstrated leadership in the LGBTQ community.
The Pearl Berlin Scholarship is awarded in amounts up to $3,000. Multiple scholarships up to $1,000 OR a single scholarship up to $3,000 will be awarded each spring. The number of scholarships and the amount of individual scholarships will be determined by the scholarship committee and based on the quality and quantity of applicants.
